Deputy Director and Facility Manager
Deborah Beirne has a strong background in chronic and life threatening health conditions including cancer. Prior to moving into her current role she held a position as a Nurse Consultant and Assistant Director of Clinical Research for Leeds Cancer Research UK Centre at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
She has many years experience in clinical research delivery, with particular experience in early phase and immunotherapy-based trials and academic study development. She has supported several junior medical researchers as they find their feet in a research environment, and provided expert advice and guidance.
Deborah has experience serving in national groups related to healthcare and research and is currently the nursing representative on the Ethical Advisory Board of GenoMEL, a European collaborative group for scientists and medics involved in research into melanoma. She is also a member of the Wales Cancer Bank Advisory Group, and Trustee of Melanoma Focus, a UK charity that brings together professional expertise, patients and public to drive improvements in diagnosis and care.
