ERIC-PPCI Research Team Recruit Their 300th Patient
Tuesday 10th October 2017
Congratulations to the Cardiovascular Research Team for recently recruiting their 300th patient to the ERIC-PPCI Interventional study. Specialist research nurses are collaborating on this, and other studies, to secure optimum recruitment. LTHT is currently the Number 1 recruiter out of 26 centres in England, reflecting the Leeds Way values and ensuring that all LTHT patients have the opportunity to be involved in research, should they wish to.
The ERIC research study looks at the Effect of Remote Ischaemic Conditioning and is a novel strategy that may help all heart attack patients in the future by further reducing the damage to the heart muscle while a patient is having a heart attack and undergoing emergency treatment with PPCI.
Total UK recruitment has been extended with a further grant from the British Heart Foundation to 2,500 patients UK wide.
