Oncology Speciality Clinical Lead
Alan Anthoney is a Consultant in Non-Surgical Oncology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Oncology at the University of Leeds. He has a particular research interest in gastrointestinal oncology and neuroendocrine cancers.
Dr Anthoney has been Research and Innovation lead for Medical and Clinical Oncology within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 2006, and in this role has helped to develop the non-surgical oncology clinical trials management team. He is the multi-disciplinary team lead for neuroendocrine cancers, having established a specialist service for patients with these cancers from across North and West Yorkshire.
Dr Anthoney chairs the Clinical Practice Committee for the United Kingdom and Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society and is a member of a number of professional associations and societies, including the Association of Cancer Physicians and the European Association of Cancer Research.
He has published over 30 peer-reviewed papers in journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, British Journal of Cancer, Journal of Clinical Oncology and European Journal of Cancer.
