Dental Translational and Clinical Research Unit (DenTRCU) CRF

Established in 2016, the Dental Translational and Clinical Research Unit (DenTCRU) CRF is a purpose built, self-contained, state-of-the-art dental CRF co-located on the LGI campus (as part of the University of Leeds Dental Hospital) with direct access to acute services and emergency care.   

Onsite Clinical Resources:

•             Six high specification dental chairs with operating microscopes, intra oral cameras (for digital photography) and controlled lighting system for colour matching and tooth whitening studies

  • Two portable dental chairs with head and portable lights for community-based projects

•             Wet laboratory and specimen preparation laboratory:

  • Laboratory Freezers: -80oC x1, -20oC x 1 (monitored 24/7 by CheckIT automated monitoring)
  • Laboratory Sample Fridge x 1 (monitored with calibrated laboratory digital thermometer)
  • Bench Top Ambient Centrifuge: Up to 4,000 rpm (fixed and swing angle) x 1
  • Class II Biological Safety Cabinet: Suitable for use with class I, II or III organisms with appropriate risk assessment, annually calibrated to national standards
  • Anaerobic Microbiology Workstation: processing, incubation and examination of samples without exposure to atmospheric oxygen
