Oral and dental health Speciality Clinical Lead
Sue Pavitt is Professor of Translational & Applied Health Research at the University of Leeds and Director of the Dental Translational and Clinical Research Unit (DentCRU) within Leeds Dental Institute.
Professor Pavitt’s research portfolio spans several disease areas, with a particular focus on oral and dental health and on multiple sclerosis. She is a specialty lead for the Oral & Dental Health National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network and chairs the UK Multiple Sclerosis Society Clinical Trials Network. She is a member of the MRC-NIHR Efficacy & Mechanistic Evaluation Board, in which capacity, she evaluates methodology and clinical trial design.
Professor Pavitt has over 30 years’ experience supporting patient involvement in research. She is the co-Academic Lead for the European Patient Advocacy for Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI-UK), which is led by the European Patients’ Forum, in partnership with patient organizations, universities, not-for-profit organizations and pharmaceutical companies, with the aim of enabling well-informed patients to be effective advocates/advisors in medicines research.
Professor Pavitt is a member of the NIHR clinical Research Network National Oral & Dental Specialty Group for West Yorkshire & Humber and the NIHR Strategy Group for Medical Informatics & Data Linkage within the NIHR Clinical Research Network.
